For me best part was keeping track of how many shots I have taken on the bow. Is it for everyone? No. Charge my bow next to Ps5! Why not!
Super easy to install. I've only used it for a few shots but it does seem like a good tool to improve my shooting abilities.
As it is, the Shot Sense app for Android is so buggy it is USELESS. I paid for this thing (at the original price!) but I feel like a beta tester. Here are the bugs I'm struggling with so far:
- Requires me to sign in again every few times I open it, and then it frequently rejects my login so I have to set a new pw through “forgot password".
- Sometimes (4 times in two weeks) forgets my bow and makes me relink it - after which it downloads ALL shots again, creating duplicates of previously downloaded shots (my earlier shots now appear 4, 3 or 2 times depending on how many times I've relinked the bow since first downloading them) and there is no way to batch delete duplicates. Only solution is to uninstall and reinstall app. I've done this twice in less than a month.
- All information has disappeared from the home page. And it says 0 shots, but when I click “view all shots”, they are there (with duplicates). Again, only solution is to uninstall and reinstall app.
- On the “Session Page" all shots in the session appear completely out of order and are not arranged by any identifiable criteria (e.g., shot number, time, MOA, etc.).
- Also on the Session page, "duration" makes no sense - no idea what duration it is recording - certainly not session length or cumulative aiming time.
These problems are so constant that I mostly avoid the app because it just frustrates the whole purpose. Still, I continue to turn the device on when shooting to record shot data in hopes the time will come when the bugs are solved.
In addition to the existing functionality which is just not working, the app is missing some very basic and intuitive features. Seems like the app designers are not app users. Here are some very basic functions that would improve the app dramatically:
ON THE “SHOT" PAGE:
- Add a swipe function so user can swipe right or left to see the prior or next shot (instead of going back to the full shot list and then selecting the prior or next shot).
- Add a countdown clock to the pre-shot <> post-shot slider on the Float Graph so user can correlate movement and position in relation to final release point to time in the post draw cycle. As it is there isn't even a way to tell when the 1 second used for calculating MOA begins or when float is greatest or least.
- On the Shot Page Float Graph, there is a magnifier, but no info on what the distance between the lines correlates to in either MOA or units of measure - we might assume it is 1 MOA per line, but who knows? Once user specifies shot distance, this graph should say what the actual distance in inches is between the lines.
ON THE HOME PAGE:
- Add a batch select feature so user can batch shots and specify their distance or any other info they want without having to do so shot by shot. Do this on session page as well.
- Add a sort feature so user can sort shots by any of the metrics to look for correlations with other metrics (e.g., sorting by aiming time would allow user to see if longer aim time results in higher or lower MOA or torque). Add this on the session page as well.
- At least add a “download CSV by date range" function so that users can download, sort and correlate data themselves since the app does not.
If you're feeling ambitious, here are some simple AI data analysis functions the app could perform:
- provide data correlation analysis: e.g., MOA is lowest during 3-4.5 seconds after draw”, “MOA increases by x% after holding for over 6 seconds”, “rightward torque increases substantially when bow level is X° or more”. Really, any sort of data correlation would be better than the uncorrelated shot by shot view currently provided.
- really ambitious: add a photo upload feature so that user can upload pics of three spot targets, one arrow in each spot. Because the photo time will be after the shot times and before times of following shots, based on time of photo and time of shots the app can ID and record the impact point (either app or user would need to specify order in which the 3 spots are shot).
Great tool to improve shooting accuracy
Good product
