I'd shop around a bit more ...
... check out the Simmons and Vortex scopes if you are limited to a $250 budget. Dollar for dollar, they are far better than the Bushnell, IMHO. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/simmons-predator-quest-45-18x44-mm-scope-matte-black.aspx?a=862823 http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Vortex-Crossfire-II-4-12x50-AO-Riflescope-w-Dead-Hold-DBC-Reticle-CF2-31023-/201020018325?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecdba0e95 I've had good luck with and liked the Leupold scopes, especially the quality of their 'low-end' optics. I have a VX1 1-4x20mm on a .300 Savage for about $250, but that's only a 250 yd Elk Gun, but good optics. Excellent for hunting close in thickets, oakbrush, and dark timber. Not made for the cross canyon shot. My pre-'64 Winchester Model 70 in .30-06 shoots .6 MOA groups and is good to 600 yds on Elk. For that I need a 15x or 18x scope with parallax adjustment. It was a toss up for me between a Leupold MK-4, NightForce NXS, and Swarovski Z5. I settled on the Swaro Z5 3.5-18x 44 mm with Ballistic Turret and 4W reticule.
