[/quote] Although I may be wrong, I believe in Canada the custom (and perhaps even the law) dictates that the autopsy must be conducted after the person is actually dead. However, I do appreciate the fact that with a full caseload, it may be more efficient for pathologists to conduct "anticipatory" autopsies in order to most effectively utilize post-mortem operating rooms.
