When I first got into compound bows I had a peep with tube on it for about a year. I found out one time when the tube broke how much speed it robs from your bow. Try shooting it once without the tube - on second thought don't. Your arrow will be launched over your target. It take energy out of your shot and reduces the KE in your arrow. In hunting that might mean a missed shot or poor penetration. From what you're saying I'd get the string and cables replaced with the same maker and same materials. I know some guys recommend mixing the it up by using one material for the cables and another for the string. I have not seen any real proof as to why other than their recommendations. Then I'd have a tubeless peep put in once you have shot a couple hundred arrows. The string and cable will settle in after stretching in those first shots. Installing the peep then should give you solid performance without a tube.
