Even with a diesel motor it will still only be a 1/2 ton pickup (suspension and tow ratings). If you are going to be towing get at least a 3/4 ton !!Or better yet a 1 ton. A 1/2 ton is ok for around the neighborhood or for the soccer mom after schoolbut if your going to be going anywhere a 3/4 or 1 ton is the right tool for the job. I have a F350 crew cab 4x4with a 7.3 dieseland tow a 32′ camper full of gear and a Honda Foreman in the truck bed, 3 or 4 people in the cab and head across country with no worry’s about the truck…..right tool.
Idk if i agree with that, yeah if your going to pull horses cross country, But i would assume if there putting a diesel in a half ton, that the springs, shocks, and leafs are stronger then a normal half ton. I wouldn't be afraid to try and pull 5,000lbs across the state on a hunting trip with that truck, I mean my familys 01 ram with a 318 with a tow packages and 4.10 gears pulls are 5500 pound boat 300 miles north to the hills of northern michigan an it does suck the gas at 8mpg but she goes lol.
