Been there done that Mark….
Usually a nice little camp shovel for a quick hole in the ground in a spot close to but outside the blind works great. Along with a tree/small hill, when someone else is in the blind solves the problem. But those flat land eastern Oregon Antelope/Deer hunts when I am staking out a water hole or trail = no trees and not much for hills. So, your explainedmethod is myoption 2…..for number 2…..
Around here the shovel is the best deal. Out there in the eastern part of Colorado it's as flat as Kansas where we were water hole blind hunting. The dirt is either cement like or sandy and no where to hide. The outfitter had worked it all worked out so I adapted to his game plan.
