Random draw has its intuitive appeal, but having had Command and been presented with such situations, I assure you that random draw is the last thing you want, especially if it is to be representative of your Ethics or Mathews’ policy. I’d suggest that those who want to participate submit a PM to you explaining why their participation would mean something to them, or to others, and how they could further your core ethics of hunting, youth development, Mathews’ Christian beliefs, etc. This way you, or a committee of your choosing, could glean over the inputs and pick those who could contribute the most, or those who would most benefit. Now that social media is sopopular, perhaps a day-to-day diary of the hunt, your input, the forum member’s input, etc., on Facebook for the Mathewsforum to follow would be a good way to engage an audience. The grand culmination would be the TV episode where the social media feed back from forum members could be included.
A very thoughtful reply as always, Brian, and one in which I'm very inclined to agree, though my earlier post would indicate otherwise. Were a general random draw to occur, there would need to be some agreement beforehand to an established set of standards consistent with Mathews TV. My only fear with an essay-type of contest would be the possibility that some great folks would not participate because they don't think they have the writing skills to produce a submission worthy of being chosen. I'm not sure there is a 'perfect' solution, but I like the way you think here.
