I've seen quite a few Chevrolets with similar problems. If the truck is in decent shape, fix it for sure. The last Chev I owned had 323,000 on it when it went to the bone yard. Ran good, shifted good, just no body panels left. Good thing they salt the roads in the winter
Also, it IS a good idea to check T-case fluid at every oil change. Low is bad, overfull is just as bad or worse. I've made a habit to check ALL fluids at every oil change. Just because you don't see a leak, doesn't mean it's not leaking.(coolant, T-case, P/S etc.) When the case is out, change the seal for sure. Cheap Insurance.
