I just checked back in after a bit of a hiatus just to see how things were coming along. Long story short, they don’t seem to be coming along much at all! The main Mathews site takes forever to load, as does the forum and the topics within the forum. The old sites may not have been integrated, but they loaded in the blink of an eye. Not to mention that the new format seems to have “locked out” a number of old participants who really contributed a lot to this place. I’m about to voice an opinion that may seem heretical and may get me a strike (or two), but I just have to say it. As much as I understand that Mathews wants their company website integrated with the forum website, doggone it, when you do this the thing has to work! And it has to work right from the get go! Or at least soon after the changeover. I’m sorry, waiting half a minute for a thread to load just doesn’t get it in these times. Which leads me to my next point. I understand that Matt is a devout Christian. Whether he could be described as “born again” or “evangelical” or whatever I don’t know. My curiosity leads me to the designers of this website, Sleeping Giant Studios, or, as I like to term them, Unconscious Megamorph Dungeons! I’m wondering if the management of Unconscious Megamorph presented themselves to Matt, and the Board of Directors, if there is one, as a “Christian” outfit, and basically sold Mathews a bill of goods that they were not equipped to deliver! And that they were hired on the basis of their being a “Christian” company. I’ve been alive on this planet for 60 years, and during that time I’ve had the chance to meet a lot of “born again” and “evangelical” Christians. Most of them have been fine, upstanding people. However, some of them have been the most rapacious, grasping, greedy, back stabbing, double dealing, and dishonest people I have ever come across! If they were able to screw somebody over, then it must be God’s will! Whatever they did was fine because they were “God’s people!” I’m hoping this isn’t the case. I’m also hoping that progress will continue, and that some of the roadblocks put in the way of some former member will be removed. I’d also hope that some mechanism would be put in place to notify those former members that things have been ironed out. I’ll never leave forever, but I sure don’t check in as often as I used to.
1) Nope, the slow speed doesn't work in these days. Heaven forbid we have to waste half a minute waiting on anything. Get a new computer, the commadore64 is going to be a bit slow. 2) Proclaiming to be a Christian dont mean much, proofs in the puddin as they say, its scriptural that one who has truly confessed faith with the heart and not just the mouth will bear fruit. Stumbling and falling still happens, but rapacious, grasping, greedy, backstabbing, double dealing, dishonest, and screwing folks over doesn't seem to fit the bill of bearing fruit to me....but I'm not the judge, and God knows his people. I'm sorry you have possibly met some false proclaimers, but that is scriptural also. While judges we are not, one of the fruits of the spirit is discernment. 3) As for Matt, never met the guy, just have heard that he proclaims to be a Christian, thats cool, I proclaim to be one also. As for a lot of the folks who have left, I hate it too, some fun and intelligent folks. Maybe with time some changes will be made and some will upgrade their puters and all will work out. In the meantime, I'll hang around. Still some good folk on here, just a kinda slow time of year anyhow. Folks sick of being indoors all winter in front of their slow puters, and are spending time outside. Not as many turkey hunters as deer. I've been around the block a few times here, and this is always the slowest time of year, but this year with the implementation of the new forum, we just have something to blame it on I guess. This thread sure isn't slow....5 pages now of "why so slow".....thats funny!
