I've stayed pretty well on top of the recent news regarding our fight to keep our 2nd Amendment rights. Part of that has included reading a lot of the comments that are posted after various news stories, youtube videos, etc... One thing that keeps crossing my mind is the image that some of the "ignorant" have of the average gun owner. There seem to be quite a few comments from Joe Citizen thinking that the average person with a CCL is some drunk redneck out looking for a fire fight. I can't help but think a little PR that tells the real story of America's gun owners might just help the situation and give the "low information" American a look behind the curtain. Don't get me wrong, we need to fight the gun grabbers tooth and nail at every opportunity. I just think organizations like the NRA could also do a lot of good by painting the entire picture and bringing more advocates on board. I have several friends and peers at work that didnt grow up around guns and have bought into the media picture of paranoid gun nuts roaming the streets. When I take the time to talk about our second amentment rights, why they're important and the time and care we put into educating ourselves and our families, their impression usually changes. Any thoughts?
