Hey Fellas! My name is Luke, I live in St. Louis city, got 53 acres out about 75m west of here. Got some big bucks around, just lots of pressure one all surrounding sides. Will do my best to get anything down, been on a cold streak for a few years but I am definitely putting in my time. The hard work should pay off eventually I hope. Been absolutely BRUTAL here in the midwest. We set a new record of days over 105+ degrees this year. Planted a bunch of soybeans that never grew. Clover burned up, had a monster plot of that out for my bees and deer. We had no rain for almost 2 straight months during the massive heat wave...everything is dead
We have a few vineyards on our land, we make wine and also sell to the wineries in the area (we are smack dab in MO wine country). Going to make a last ditch effort to get some wheat/oats/turnips/clover in the ground if we can get a little rain anytime soon. Ground is so hard i couldnt even use a post pounder to get some rebar in to mount a camera last week. its BAD out here but I'll give it my best. I guess the "good" thing is that all the corn and beans are dead everywhere (sorry about the price of your food/gas soon). Thus, if we CAN get some food out we should be sitting pretty. My neighbors also hunt very hard and manage their land, but their pricey food plots have all turned to dust also. My good buddy from college has a family farm about an hour north of STL with some MONSTER bucks and good beans, they got their crops in late may when everyone said they were crazy for planting. I've got an invite, so I will definitely be heading up if i can get a break from the wife/kids and a free pass for a weekend. Season opens on 9/15 here and I will be there! Good luck to everyone, it's always great to meet some new folks via the contest.
