Most have said it....make it fun, be patient with them. I just about ruined my daughter from it, but learned some priceless lessons. Keep it close, success = enjoyment for them, and YOU MUST BE PATIENT, never tell them "that was a bad shot" tell them "not bad", and make a huge deal when it REALLY is good! The lessons I learned in absolutely screwing everything up early on with my daughter, has produced an addict in my younger son. Balloons are great, they love to see them pop. Again, start easy....with some BIG balloons and work smaller. Be creative, go to a 3d range, they love shooting the different animals. For the most part, my bow stays in the case when they want to shoot, but now and then I'll break it out and let them beat me in a contest of some sort....closest to bullseye, or a points contest with a couple of shots! (of course they really do beat me most of the time but dont tell anyone) Its a blast seeing the enjoyment on their faces, and I am forever greatful to the individual that got me started into archery.
