Pro Staff: Tina Huntzinger

Tina Huntzinger’s boyfriend at the time, David, bought her a bow so that they could shoot together.  Now, more than 20 years later, Tina and David are married and are both still enjoying shooting together just as much as ever. She shoots a Prestige and MR5 in the Female Pro Division.

“My husband has had the biggest impact on my archery career,” says Tina.  “He started me off with my first bow and has been my coach and bow mechanic ever since.”  And not only is David Huntzinger a supportive husband, but also a fellow Pro Shooter!

Tina says that her favorite part of archery is the competitive nature of it.  “Practicing and trying to beat the best is quite a challenge!”  She exclaims.  “But to any new archers out there, just have fun with it and practice, practice, practice!”

Tina and her husband have both given away several bows to different people, including to a few children, and have helped out at several Mathews shows, allowing people to test the bows and ultimately purchase one.  Tina loves getting people involved with archery.  She has such a passion that it’s difficult not to tell people about it and encourage them to join.

She says that her most memorable archery moment was winning her first IBO World Tournament.  “It was held in 1999 at Peek ‘N Peak in Clymer, NY.  At that time, I shot in the FBO Division.”  But she’s had many achievements since then.  Here are some of her most recent tournament results:

  • 2011 – KAA KY Indoor State – 1st
  • 2011 – KAA KY Sectionals – 2nd
  • 2011 – IBO in Bedford, IN – 7th
  • 2011 – Overall IBO Triple Crown – 9th

When not shooting, she’s either riding on the back of her and her husband’s Harley Ultra Classic, or golfing.

Tina Huntzinger’s personal testimony regarding Mathews bows and Zebra strings:

“Mathews bows are the smoothest, most consistent bows I have ever shot!  They give even a short draw length like mine plenty of speed.  This year, my MR5 is going 298fps with my 25.5 inch draw and only 50 pounds!  Even SHORT women can get some speed!  And Zebra strings are durable and reliable!”
