Sid Lett got his start in archery after he went bow-hunting with a recurve. He liked it immediately and then, when compound bows came out, he got one and went to the local club and practiced on a hay bale and cardboard targets. Then he shot some tournaments on large paper targets until 3-D targets came out. He’s been shooting 3-D ever since!
Sid has been enjoying archery for most of his life, but has recently moved into the Senior Pro division. His bow of choice in competitions is the Conquest 4. Sid has this to say of his Conquest, “The Conquest 4 is the most forgiving bow I have ever shot. It is a proven winner of all major tournaments in both ASA and IBO. The Conquest 4 fits my style of shooting and I prefer it over all others.” His bow of choice when hunting is the Mathews LX.
Some of his accomplishments include:
- 2011 – Illinois – 3rd
- 2011 – ASA Classic West Monroe LA – 3rd
- 2009 – Shooter of the year, Senior Open – 3rd
- 2006- ASA Shooter of the Year- Senior Open
- 2002 – ASA Shooter of the Year – Senior Open
- 1997 – ASA Shooter of the Year – Unlimited
- Shot in Senior Pro in 2003 & 2004
- Top 5 finish at IBO World in Unlimited class
- Several wins in ASA Open classes
When Sid is not competing, he enjoys hunting, fishing, archery, and motorcycling across the country. Sid is married and has two sons and his entire family is filled with accomplished archers. Sid shoots at all the local tournaments and has game dinners at local clubs. He belongs to ASA, IBO, NFAA, and also coaches new archers and helps them with their setups.
The advice that Sid gives to new archers is to “have fun first, then use quality equipment, and practice as much as time allows. But be careful not to get burned out on practice!”
Sid Lett’s personal testimony regarding Mathews bows and Zebra strings:
“I have shot several bows in my lifetime, but none have performed like my Mathews bows that I have been shooting. I have shot Mathews since 1999 and can honestly say I will never own anything else. They are so smooth, quiet, and accurate. These are some of the qualities I have come to expect for my Mathews bows. Also, the Baracuda strings and cables are among the best on the market today. They perform in hot or cold weather without having to make adjustments every time you go out to shoot.”
