When it comes to versatility in bow hunting, game calling, and wildlife videography, Harrison, Arkansas resident Phillip Vanderpool is one tough act to follow. With over 44 years of hunting experience, Vanderpool is the complete hunting/videography package.
Phillip is an accomplished bow hunter, taking several Pope and Young and three Boone & Crockett class whitetails. Phillip won the Arkansas Big Buck Classic Archery Division in 1990 and 1991. In 1994, he harvested the largest buck in the state with traditional equipment, the recurve bow. In 2000, he became the first bow hunter to ever take a bull elk in Arkansas.
After hunting turkeys since childhood with a shotgun, Phillip decided to try the ultimate challenge of bow hunting turkeys. He has now taken more than 33 turkeys with his bow, and has captured his last 12 turkey bow hunts on video.
For the past several years, Phillip has been a contracted cameraman and Pro Staff member for Hunter’s Specialties. Besides Hunter’s Specialties titles, his previous filming credits include the Pure Adrenalin series and several other independent video projects.
Beginning January 1st of 2005, Phillip joined Hunter’s Specialties as a full-time field producer and Pro Staff member. Besides his video duties for the award-winning Hunter’s Specialties Outdoors, he will continue to video for PrimeTime Bucks, Cutt’n and Strutt’n and PrimeTime Bulls.
