Luke Parker grew up in the country. Growing up close to nature, he had an interest in hunting and began making stick bows at around 5 years old. What started as child-hood play then evolved into a serious pursuit of the sport when he began competing around the age of 13. He’s never slowed down since!
Luke shoots a Monster Xlr8 and an MR5 and competes in the Open Pro division. He credits himself as being the biggest reason why he has continued as an archer. “I have been driven and determined to make it as a professional archer.” And he has!
Here are some of his recent accomplishments:
- 2011 – ASA Kentucky – 9th
- 2011 – ASA Classic Monroe, LA – 14th
- 2011 – ASA tour – 6 out of 7 top 20 finishes
- 2011 – ASA Paris, TX – 15th
“I love to shoot bows!” exclaims Luke. “I can’t get enough of it! I love to push my boundaries, and the boundaries of accuracy.” He also attends all of the kids shoot events at national tournaments, and is diligent about helping people get set up for the first time.
To any new archers, his advice is to “contact a local pro shooter or pro shop and ask all the questions you need to. And sight your bow in with fresh/cold arms and your sight won’t lie to you. Muscles get tired, eyes get tired, they aren’t the same as fresh arms and won’t hit exactly the same.”
When not competing, Luke enjoys working on his house and hunting- especially for Rocky Mountain Elk! He’s also a traveler and enjoys practicing.
Luke Parker’s personal testimony regarding Mathews bows and Zebra strings:
“My monsters and MR bows are the best bows on the entire archery market. They give me speed and accuracy and that’s what it takes! These Zebra strings are the best strings out there. My peep and loop stay in perfect sync with each other. No peep rotation!”
