Justin Martin currently competes in the Men’s Open Pro class. His bow of choice for competition is the MR7, while his bow of choice for hunting is the Z7 Xtreme.
Justin first got involved with archery through a family friend, Howard Beeson. Howard took him under his wing when Justin was only 10 years old, and taught him how to shoot a bow. Justin immediately loved it.
The individual who made the biggest impact on his archery career would be his wife, Anna Beth. Justin says, “She is so supportive and has actually given me some good advice about not stressing too much and trusting in my own abilities. She is not an archer, but she gives some very good advice!”
Some of his accomplishments include:
- 2010 – Buckmasters World Championship – 8th
- 2009 – Buckmasters World Championship – 5th
- 2007 – Buckmasters World Championship – 2nd
- 2005 – Buckmasters World Championship – 2nd
- 2003 – Buckmasters World Championship – 1st
- 2001 – IBO Male Shooter of the Year – 1st
- 2001 – 2nd Leg IBO National Triple Crown – 1st
Justin does seminars for kids and adults about both the basics and more intricate techniques in archery. He does approximately 6 of them a year, and to all new archers trying to get your feet on the ground, “the most important piece of advice I can give is to go to a licensed Mathews retailer that can get you fitted properly with your new bow. It is just like a pair of shoes; the better they fit the more fun you will have.”
When Justin is not competing, he enjoys hunting, fishing, golf and college football. He also hosts and produces a television show on the Outdoor Channel.
Justin Martin’s personal testimony regarding Mathews bows and Zebra strings:
“I trust Mathews whether I am shooting for a big buck from a tree-stand or for big bucks at a tournament. They are simply the best bows and have the best engineer and support staff available today. I shoot the Zebra strings that come on the bows. I trust them completely because they are quality and meet all of my requirements!”
