Pro Staff: Gary Rigney

Gary Rigney got started in archery after shooting a co-workers bow.  He loved it and decided to go ahead and get his own bow, and everything evolved out of that to what it is today.  He now has a large variety of his own bows including the Triumph, Conquest 4, Apex 8, Prestige, Monster, and both the DXT and Black Max 2 for hunting purposes.

Gary’s¬†favorite archery memory is winning his first tournament, and Gary says that he’s¬†loved¬†shooting against the best archers in the world.¬† Here are a few of his recent accomplishments:

  • 2011¬†– Illinois Senior Olympics 50-54 years – 1st/gold medal
  • 2011 –¬†State Field – 1st
  • 2011 – State Indoor – 1st
  • 2008 – Made two ASA shoot downs.¬† Mississippi 4th place; Illinois 4th place; Presleys Indoor Tournament 1st place
  • 2009 – NFAA/IAA State Indoor, Field and 3D Championships all 1st place; NFAA Unmarked 3d 4th place; Presleys Indoor Tournament 3rd place
  • 2010 – NFAA/IAA Indoor, Field and 3D 1st place

When Gary’s not shooting, he helps out at a local pro shop, volunteers on the state and national level of NASP, and enjoys going to church with family and friends, and watching the Cubs.¬† His advice to anyone that¬†is starting out in archery is to “buy the best equipment you can.¬† And find a good pro shop to get started in the right direction.”

Gary Rigney’s personal testimony regarding Mathews bows and Zebra strings:

“Mathews bows are simply the best on the market, and a first class company to shoot for!¬† And Zebra bowstrings are the best string out there for the money.”
