Pro Staff: Earl Yap

Earl Benjamin Yap has been enjoying archery for the past 7 years   He has been competing as a pro for the past 4 years.  Earl competes in the FITA Men’s Open Compound class in FITA Outdoor and Indoor tournaments.  Earl’s bow of choice to compete with is the Conquest Apex and Drenalin.  Some of his accomplishments include:

  • 2006 Asian Grand Prix – 2nd place
  • 2006 Asian Grand Prix – 3rd place
  • 2007 Asian Grand Prix – 1st place
  • 2007 Asian Archery Champion
  • 2008 Southeast Asian Archery Championships – 1st place
  • 2009 National Outdoor Championships – 1st place
  • 2009 National Indoor Championships – 1st place
  • 2010 Asian Archery Grand Prix – 4th place
  • 2010 Philippine Field Archery Cup – 2nd place
  • 2010 Cebu Archery Open – 1st place

He first got involved in the sport of archery at the age of 8 where he and his father would shoot on the roof of their building.  Because of this, Earl says that his dad has had the biggest impact on his archery career.  The advice that Earl gives to new archers is to make sure you have an experience archer to guide you through the basics of the sport.  Once you have started shooting, enjoy it and just keep hitting your target!  When not competing, Earl is a lecturer for the Asian Archery Federation and he teaches beginners and advanced shooters in the Philippines.  He also helps organize competitions for the public such as FITA field tournaments and some FITA outdoor tournaments.  When he is not competing, Earl enjoys biking, fishing and skateboarding.
