Pro Staff: Al Morris

Allen Morris of Springville, Utah grew up with a love of hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. As a youngster he could be found with his dog and BB gun, chasing animals around his family’s dairy farm.
At the age of 15 Morris’ father read an article in Outdoor Life about Wayne Carlton and his ability to call elk using a turkey diaphragm call. His father called Wayne that very day. “My life was changed forever,” said Morris. “After some one-on-one instruction over the phone from Wayne, no more than three days later I was calling elk in the field myself. I realized I had a unique ability to call, mimicking the sounds elk made.” Al’s talent for calling and hunting elk led to a 15-year career as a professional guide.
Morris has also had success in elk calling contests. He won the 1999 and 2003 Utah State Bugling Championship and was the 2002, 2003, and 2004 Northeast Elk Calling Champion. Morris has several second and third-place finishes at the World Elk Calling Championship. He also is skilled in calling other game, winning the World Coyote Calling Championship in 1997 and 2007.
Morris has been featured as a guide on several outdoor television shows, including Wayne Pearson’s Ultimate Outdoors, Cabela’s Sportsman’s Quest, Bushnell’s Secrets of the Hunt, Babe Winkelman’s Outdoor Secrets, Mossy Oak’s Hunting the Country, Benelli’s American Safari, Jim Zumbo Outdoors, as well as Hunter’s Specialties’ TV Show, Hunter’s Specialties Outdoors, and on the Operation Predator 2 through 5 and Primetime Bulls 2 through 6 videos.
Al and his coyote hunting partner Garvin Young are the only three time World

Coyote Calling Champions, winning the contest in 1997, 2007,and 2008. Al and

Garvin are also the only team to place in the top ten every year since they first

entered in 1997.
As a member of the FoxPro Prostaff and co-host of FoxPro Furtakers, Morris shares his knowledge of elk and predator hunting at personal appearances and on the show airing weekly on the Outdoor Channel.
