Cody Thompson’s favorite competition bow is the Conquest 4. Some of his most recent accomplishments include:
- 2009 FITA Jr. World Champion
- 2010 2nd place at the New Jersey Gold Cup
- 2011 Vegas Shoot Off
- 2011 3rd place at Redding Trail Shoot
When Cody was 10 years old, his uncle took him to a local 3D shoot. He fell in love with the sport after the first target.
He says that his father has made the biggest impact on his archery career because without him, Cody wouldn’t be anywhere close to the person or archer he is today. The biggest piece of advice that Cody has for new archers is to not get frustrated, but to work it out until you figure it out. “Don’t give up, stay focused. One perfect shot is better than one million poor shoots. Perfect practice.”
Cody’s favorite part of competition is when the pressure is on and everyone is around to watch you make the best shoot you can. “I love the feeling of being in front of the crowd and knowing I have to make the shot of my life. Nothing else matters, just me, my equipment and the target! There is nothing as exciting as that moment!”
When not competing, Cody enjoys hunting, fishing, playing basketball, baseball, football, golf, hanging out with friends and family, and doing anything else that has to do with the outdoors!
