OCTOBER 4, 2003 – THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE – I married my best friend and cohort in crime. We hunted axis on our honeymoon and made a pack to always have a hunting adventure on our anniversary. OCTOBER 4, 2010 – THE ANNIVERSARY GIFT – A WHITETAIL LARGER THAN ANY OTHER – I was given the opportunity to hunt for a very big deer and I gave my husband the gift of a very nice deer also. Shooting light creeps upon myself & my guide – we see several lesser bucks then mine hunt begins as my deer strolls into the opening. Patiently I waited until he was in range, drew back with my REEZEN Bow & released my arrow – a perfect shot and he was down!! He was even bigger when I walked up to him – his score 217 1/8 B&C. The largest deer I have ever harvested and what an anniversary present!! 2 days later my husband, Glen harvested the largest deer he has ever taken – 170 B&C with his MONSTER Bow. We are true Mathews believers! Both of us harvested very large red stags in New Zealand with our bows. MATHEWS Bows are the finest quality bows either one of us have shot and the animals on the ground are a testament to the equipment we use. Oh yes, some will say “well they were hunting on a canned hunt in a high fenced operation” – this couldn’t be farther from the truth – there was a definite challenge to this hunt and I was not certain we would even harvest animals. Many of their other exotics are even more aloof and difficult to stalk – as they are in the thick Piney Woods of East Texas. Thank you to our guide – Koby Howell of 5 Star Outfitters & Venado Creek Ranch!!!
