Shoot Type: Whitetail
The One it didn’t get away
Opening of day for us New Yorkers came early this year, which was October 01, 2012. I hunted hard! I had a shot on a good buck that came about 30 – 35 yards and I got the buck fever and missed twice. After that, I did not come to any other clean or ethical shots, and sometimes I didn’t see anything moving my way. I was getting very discouraged about bow hunting and was ready to hang the bow and just wait till gun season…I was determined to do so. On Saturday, November 10, 2012, I went for my last bow hunt and I went up on my climber about 6:45am. Light started to come up. While I was still getting ready on stand, I heard this big clash in the woods aproaching and heading towards me. I barely had time to get my bow ready, but I knew that if it didn’t happen then it wasn’t going to happen at all. The gorgeous animal came at 15 yards and gave me a chance for a shot. I was blessed, there was no need for tracking since he dropped right on his tracks. This beautiful animal was an 8 pointer and weighed 175 pounds dressed. In Upstate New York it’s considered a good buck. That made my day…hope to continue to Bow hunt for years to come. Love my Tactical z7 Xtreem.
