The First with the Q2

November 5, 2000 by Kurt Culbert

This is the first of five deer Ive been fortunate enough to take with my Mathews Q2. Ill never forget the first time I shot it. Didnt have the money to buy it, but had to have it! Best investement I ever made.

This buck actually came to a grunt call after I had been working with him for more than 15 minutes (it seemed like hours). He came alone and was making some mid-day rut cruising.

I shot him at 18 yards with ISC 400 with a 100 gr. Thunderhead. The buck was quartering away at a slight angle. Arrow passed through and broke after hitting a tree some six yards behind the buck!

I have since switched back to aluminum arrows (XX78, 2216) and shot Rocky Mountain Evolution 100s last year for no other reason than to try something new. Only took one deer but had terrific results.
