Only the Beginning
On my 13th birthday, I received my dream bow- the Mathews Conquest Prestige. I had only been shooting 3 months before hand with a bow from their Monster line, but after winning several tournaments relatives of mine decided it was time to take a step up. That same year, I won the Virginia ASA state championship. Things slowed down after the state tournament, it was at this time that I took an instructors class at James Maddison University with Bob Ryder and earned my Level 1 instructors license. I continued to shoot into indoor season and became very fond of 3 spot or vegas target faces. I was asked by the owner of my local archery shop if i wanted to be a store shooter and help with her JOAD clubs which I happily agreed to. I joined my own JOAD and before I knew it USA Indoor Nationals in Harrisonburg, Virginia rolled around. I competed and took 3rd place in the Female Cub Compound division. This was my first major tournament ever and things have been going smoothly as I now move into outdoor season and prepare for Outdoor Nationals in Hamilton, Ohio.
