My Indiana Bruiser

November 5, 2010 by Corrine Bundy

I was hunting my husband’s (boyfriend at the time) family farm for the first time when no longer than 30 minutes on stand a mature doe stepped out. It wasn’t long until I spotted a buck on her tail. I tapped my camera man’s knee to get his attention. When this buck appeared it reminded me of a mule deer with it’s white face and I knew instantly it was a very mature deer. The body was massive, later revealing it weighed 225 pounds– incredibly big for southern Indiana. I drew back when the buck stopped broadside and made a perfect shot. The buck went only 60 yards and was the biggest blessing ever! Having 8 full days to hunt, I was tagged out in my first 30 minutes!! We enjoyed his back straps that night which my now mother-in-law prepared perfectly.
