My Illinois Whitetail

December 27, 2011 by Brian Adams

It was always my dream to go to illinois and hunt trophy whitetails and thanks to my grandpa it was actually happening. The weather could not have been any worse for us it rained all week. It actually rained so much that the creek had flooded into the bean fields. It was so damp that the farmer we were leasing the property from could not harvest his beans and corn which did not help us at all. Finally on the six morning we got a nice morning and it didn’t take long and two does were standing ten yards away to my left but they winded me and ran through the creek and up the hill but wouldn’t you know it this buck came down the hill it looked like a monster had never seen nothing like this in michigan before. He used the same trail the doe took ten yards away and i let the arrow fly and i smoked him. he didn’t go 75 yards and piled up. This was the first deer with my mathews monster xlr8 and i couldn’t be happier with my new bow!
