My First Walk n Stalk Alone
It was about 730 in the morning , my husband had already gone up to his tree stand blind and I was able to sleep in because I was going on my own out behind our camp on a walk in stalk deer hunt. I grabbed my gear with my Matthews Bow in hand. I had walked slowly and quietly for an hour and a half through the forest and trails and came up behind 2 Mule Deer bucks bedded down. I knocked an arrow , ranged 50yds…40 yds and slowly closing the distance. 33yds.. they were still unaware of my presence. Choosing the one on the right which presented a broadside shot I took aim, said a quick prayer and….released…the buck bolted up and forward instantly. Never knowing what hit him, he dropped within 20 yds. Thanking God for providing the opportunity and meat I radioed my husband and proceeded to tag, field dress and drag him to near by trail for pick up. My husband said I had Graduated and am now a full fledged huntress!
