My first pope and young!
Got into the stand at 1:40pm on 11/3/13 not expecting much action. I’d sat the two previous days without seeing any rutting activity let alone a deer. At 2:30pm I hear a leaf crack and look down to see this ten pointer at 25 yards coming from my right. I managed to slowly stand up and draw my Drealin and he stepped into my one small shooting lane on that side of my stand. I gave a soft grunt and let the arrow fly, landing snuggly right behind his shoulder and he crashed hard. He managed to get back up and crash a few more times before he went out of sight. I calmly put my bow down and began to get pretty emotional. I have put my time in for three seasons now, waiting for a mature buck. I had dreamed of this day for so long and it happened so fast it was pretty overwhelming. Once I finally got my hands on the deer I knew my hard work and dedication had paid off! Such a rewarding feeling! Getting a Pope and Young buck had been on my bucket list ever since I started hunting and I was so happy to get it done! Love shooting Mathews!!!!
