Shoot Type: Elk
My First Elk
The day before Elk season opened I was hanging my stand. I wanted to hang it on a logging road. My fellow hunters in camp talked me out if the location so I moved my stand 40 yards off the road onto a heavily used trail. Opening morning I was in my stand 20 minutes when I saw this masssive 800lb Roosevelt Elk feeding on the green grass in the middle of the road where I wanted to hang my stand. I watched in agony as he fed for over an hour and then disapeared. I was disheartened to say the least. Fifteen minutes later he re-appeared and walked down the trail 20 yards under me. I brought the Monster MR6 to full draw and let the arrow fly. He went about 50 yards and dropped.
