My First Bow Hunt Ever

September 20, 2007 by Pete Tarin

Six months after my dad introduced me to bow hunting I harvested this 6×6. I bought my first bow a Matthews Switchback in April and did nothing but shoot, read live and breath bow hunting. And by September it was ready or not because here I come. I do have to admit though that my dad is one of the biggest reasons I was able to even get a shot at this animal. We hunt using the spot and stalk method. We had been walking around all day when my dad spotted him and was able to call him in (after about hour)to with in 32 yards. He was standing broadside to me with little to no wind when I took the shot. He ran only 50 yards before he fell from a lung shot. I’ve been high power rifle hunting before but the thrill and adrenaline rush I got from bow hunting with my Mathews Switchback was the greatest feeling ever. I will never hunt any other way now. Thank you Dad and Mathews Inc.
