Metroplex Monster

February 4, 2013 by Todd Knight

Hello , My name is Todd Knight.

I have been hunting primarily on public lands within an hour or so of the Dallas Ft Worth Metroplex since relocated back to the Dallas area 7 years ago. I only Bow Hunt these days , I haven’t touched a gun for big game in over 15 years. I was turned on to a few close public land spots that have made me realize that you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to have some incredible hunting! Yes you have to work harder at it and I put miles every season on my boots carrying 60-70 lbs of gear in to hunt these places. Well after numerous close encounters and several heartbreaks I managed this season to take one of these deer I keep seeing while hunting. This guy was on a hot doe coming in quickly, I barely had time to grab my Mathews DXT and draw back and stop him at 18 yards, he was almost past me by the time i noticed him. My shot was directly into the heart and he only traveled 60 yards before going down. The hardest part was waiting 3 hours on stand to go look for him. Anyway, it all worked out he wasn’t far from where I stuck him at. Unfortunately the week before him , I stuck a buck that made this guy look small and I did not recover him after looking all day. People that don’t believe that there are good public hunting grounds are truly missing out! Anyway thank you Mathews for your products!!! I love my Bow !!!!
