Love for Archery
Hi, my name is Joe Wiseman, I am 30 years old and I live in Howard City, Michigan, I was born and raised in Comstock Park, Michigan. I was in a quading accident about 10 years ago and almost lost my life. From the accident I broke 13 vertebra’s in my neck and back and after years of rehab I went from not being able to walk, to walking again. I lost the use of my right arm in-defiantly because when I broke my neck it pulled the roots to my nerves out of my spine. My first love was bow hunting and for the last nine years I’ve hunted with a cross bow. I always had an idea in the back of my mind I could shoot a bow by pulling it back with my teeth. Last winter I tried this theory with an old recurve I had and I could do it, so I sold my cross bow and bought a Mathews Chill. I have it set at 70#âs and I have a 26″ draw. I made a mouth piece out of a 1 1/2″ d-loop braided with 3/16″ (I believe) nylon rope. I would have to say at 20 yards I am a better shot then I thought I would be. I would love a chance to tell the world my complete story of what I have over came and just because you have a handicap, doesn’t mean you can’t do the things you love! I am extremely determined with everything I do and I even went back to college and got my bachelor’s degree. You can do anything you put your mind to.
My hopes are to inspire more people and give them the motivation they need, because I know they are out there and I would love nothing more but to help others in my situation.
