Love for Archery

January 9, 2014 by Joe Wiseman

Hi, my name is Joe Wiseman, I am 30 years old and I live in Howard City, Michigan, I was born and raised in Comstock Park, Michigan. I was in a quading accident about 10 years ago and almost lost my life. From the accident I broke 13 vertebra’s in my neck and back and after years of rehab I went from not being able to walk, to walking again. I lost the use of my right arm in-defiantly because when I broke my neck it pulled the roots to my nerves out of my spine. My first love was bow hunting and for the last nine years I’€™ve hunted with a cross bow. I always had an idea in the back of my mind I could shoot a bow by pulling it back with my teeth. Last winter I tried this theory with an old recurve I had and I could do it, so I sold my cross bow and bought a Mathews Chill. I have it set at 70#’s and I have a 26″€ draw. I made a mouth piece out of a 1 1/2″€ d-loop braided with 3/16″ (I believe) nylon rope. I would have to say at 20 yards I am a better shot then I thought I would be. I would love a chance to tell the world my complete story of what I have over came and just because you have a handicap, doesn’€™t mean you can’€™t do the things you love! I am extremely determined with everything I do and I even went back to college and got my bachelor’€™s degree. You can do anything you put your mind to.
