Halloween Treat For Sure!

October 31, 2003 by Dale J. Brassfield

Once again, I have been blessed by harvesting a mature, whitetail buck that weighed 240 lbs, had 14 point, and scored 140" Gross on Halloween.
This was the first deer seen on my second day of a four day hunt. This buck approached my stand from the South West, following the trail of a hot doe. At fifty yards, I thought that I would pass on this deer, as the area I hunt commonly produces 150+ whitetail deer. He approached from my right to left and stopped broadside at twenty yards. The weather was unseasonably warm, this deer was the size of a horse and I was bowhunting. I looked down at my new Mathews LXand then back at the buck. Before I knew it, I was at full draw looking down on the deers vitals. The deer never knew what hit him! How could he…..I am shooting one of the fastest and quiest hunting bows ever produced! The shot was perfect. The arrow penetrated both lungs and stuck in the ground. The deer jumped and ran approximately thirty yards, stopped, then walked another ten yards and fell over dead!
Thank you Mathews for making the best bows. As a consumer, I know I have choices and their are a lot of them! I choose Mathews and always will. Now, I cant wait to see the 04 line-up, as I am sure that I will not be able to resist!
