First Moose

September 18, 2005 by Max

This is my first moose and only second animal that Ive taken with a bow. I was using my Mathews Featherlight that I purchased second-hand a few years ago. Its been an excellent bow. I never have to mess with it or adjust in anyway. It stays tuned.

I shot him on the first day of my hunt. We spotted him about 800 yds away then stalked and called him in. We played hide and seak for about a 1/2 hour before I got a good broadside shot at 30 yds. He ran about 70 yds. I shoot a 62 lb draw with Easton XX78 arrows and 100 gr. Thunderhead broadhead.

This Moose had a 55" spread with 4 brow tines and 13X12 points. It scored 190 2/8 P&Y dry score.

Thanks Mathews for an accurate and reliable bow.
