Shoot Type: Elk
Colorado High
Opening morning Colorado Elk season 2012. Aug. 25th.
The morning started with bulls bugling. Not sure which way to go so I started up the side of a steep rocky aspen grove. I was trying to stay ahead of the big bull and his cows. tow hours later and high on the mountain he had stopped calling. Thinking he was gone I sat down to rest. Thought I’d try one more time to get a response, I cow called and answered only 60 yd. away. The cows came through first and then I saw him, a nice 6×6. he closed the distance to 45 yds. and offered a nice broad side shot. The arrow hit it’s mark, heart shot. the big bull jumped and stood there for about a minute and dropped over. Thank you Mathews. My Heli-m did the trick.
