Biggest Whitetail Taken

February 4, 2013 by Craig Shofner

On November 8th I rushed out of work at 11:00 am in order to make the 2 hour drive to our hunting camp. I arrived about 2:00 pm, changed clothes, grabbed my DXT and headed to my stand. Just prior to last light I caught a glimpse of a deer walking up the trail. I quickly grabbed my binoculars to get a better look. I saw he had 4 heavy points on his right said. At that time the buck started angling away from me. I drew my bow and grunted to stop him at 27 yards. When I settled my pin I released and heard the loud thump of a solid hit. I heard the buck run off and crash. At this point I was overcome with emotion. I had to sit back down in my stand and concentrate on regaing my composure. I waited for about 30 minutes before gettind down and heading back to camp. I wanted to give the buck more time as well as get my buddies to help with the recovery. The buck went about 40 yards. This is my best whitetail yet.
