big buck for 1 yard

November 10, 2004 by Tim Atchley

This is a buck I took in 2004. The buck followed a doe and passed below me about a yard from my tree. This buck and doe were bedded down about 40 yards from my stand. I waited nearly 1 1/2 hours for the buck to come in and passed on a 150 class buck while I waited. I drew back on the 150, but couldnt let it fly with the big buck so close. This is by far the most exciting (my friend say lucky) hunt of my life.

I shot straight down through the buck and he ran about 75 yards. This buck was taken with an old Mathews MXZ (still one of my favorite bows ever). I now shoot a Switchback.

The bucks gross score was 191 1/8 and he dressed 265 lbs.
