BBD – Big Bear Down
Big black bear down. I shot this black bear in the Gila National Forest of New Mexico on September 24, 2010. He is chocolate with gold highlights. Shot him at 12 yards with my Mathews DTX bow over a natural spring. After shot, bear ran 40 yards and expired. Bear taped at 7 feet long and weight approximately 525 pounds. When the skull was initially scored, it was at 21 inches. However, it now scores 20 inches. I am getting a life size mount of him. Not bad for my first bear.
