back yard buck
Due to the wind and the rain the weather was not very desirable for bow hunting on Oct.7th 2005 but I have always said " you can not kill them from the couch". My wife and children were away for the weekend to memes house, so I thought to myself what a great chance to hunt over a new food plot that I had just planted in late August. I got dressed , grabbed my Outback and headed for the stand. I believe it was only about 30 minutes into that afternoons hunt and this guy showed up and was coming right for the food plot. I raised my Mathews and came to full draw anticipating him to to enter the plot. His plans were not as fluent as mine ,as he stopped on the edge of the plot behind a pile of brush to scan the area. As I stood in the tree at full draw for what seemed like 10 minutes I was able to stay relaxed because of the excellent let off on this bow. As he stepped out into the plot I placed my top pin behind the shoulder and let the arrow fly. That 100 gr. muzzy found its mark at what later turned out to be 18 yards. As the buck ran off and out of I sight I was sure I heard that come and get me crash. I grabbed my cell phone to call my wife and then my brother in law. He brought my 2 nephews over to track up this nice 8point. The best part of this story is that this deer was harvested on 2 acres and expired 75 yards from my back door. So thank you Mathews for designing a bow that feels like an extension of my arm and that helps build great memories among family and friends.
