A Double Great Day in the Woods!
The Rut was on! It was a little before 7am when I saw a doe coming towards me. I grabbed my Z7 and at the same time I heard a buck grunting from the same direction. The smaller of the Big Bucks was bearing down on the doe. I had to yell at the buck to get him to stop. I placed an arrow between a couple of trees at about 25 yards and put the arrow right in the heart of the deer. After the shot I saw out of the corner of my eye the bigger buck who was a hundred yards out, take off. I was able to grunt that buck into the same location as the other deer and placed another heart shot into this deer. The blood trail was very easy. Both deer ran off in the same direction and only went 50 yards and died less than 10 yards apart. What a Great Double Day! It’s also great to have to have two Buck permits in Illinois. Did I mention how much I love my Z7!
