2005 Oregon public lands 15" Pronghorn
After seeing numerous antelope the first weekend of the season, I decided to sit on a water hole for the final weekend. I was mentally set to sit there all weekend if need be. I was in my blind only a couple of hours when I noticed this buck from a good distance staring in my direction. I was starting to wonder if maybe he might have spotted me, since they have incredible eye sight and I have to stand up to glass the surrounding area. My doubts were lifted when he started moving in my direction. It didnt take him long to get to the water hole. When he came to a point where I didnt have much cover left, I drew my Out back and told myself to wait till he stops. I held on him, and at just over 30 yards, he stopped. I held for a second and released. My arrow zipped through so fast I wondered if maybe I missed. Not so, and after what seemed like an eternity, I was holding the buck of a lifetime.
