Nicholson Larson and Allbritain Win IBO World Championships
The IBO World Championship was held August 6 – 9 in Anderson Indiana. This is the final tournament of the season for the IBO. After the final arrows were scored, Michael Nicholson, Bart Larson and Jeanna Allbritain each won the championship in their respective classes.
In the Limited Pro class, Michael Nicholson has had a year to remember. Nicholson had won nine tournaments so far this season. Well, this week Nicholson finished his year with his tenth win of the season. Nicholson had a final score of 486-18 to capture the world championship. Rodney Huffman finished in second place with a score of 462-5. Chris Stachler was third with a score of 458-8. There were eight shooters in the class and Mathews finished with seven of the top eight finishers. The rest of the top eight included: Gene Curry, 450-6, 4th place; Ryan Leonard, 443-5, 5th place; Dave Thompson, 347-6, 7th place and Charlie Owens, 341-5 in 8th place.
In the Senior Pro class, Bart Larson won his first tournament of the season. For Larson, this is his first year competing in the class. Larson had a final score of 499-17 to win the title. Randall Jones was third with a score of 491-18. Mathews had eight of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Derry Null, 489-16, 4th place; Louie Zannetakis, 487-11, 5th place; Bill Sennick, 483-14, 6th place; Burley Hall, 482-16, 7th place; Tom Crowe, 481-9, 8th place and Jackie Caudle, 374-11 in 10th place.
For the second time this year, Jeanna Allbritain won the title in the Women’s Pro class. Allbritain had a final score of 477-8 to win the championship. Kaitlyn Price was second with a score of 476-13. Mathews finished with eight of the top ten finishers. The rest of the top ten included: Samantha Morgan, 462-9, 4th place; Aime Whittington, 456-6, 5th place; Amy Wenmoth, 454-8, 6th place; Ginger Morehead, 364-4, 7th place; Andrea Nicholson, 362-6, 8th place and Susan Davis, 359-6 in 10th place.
In the Open Pro class, the top Mathews finisher was Levi Morgan. Morgan had a final score of 518-22 and finished in second place. Tim Gillingham was third with a score of 514-29. Mathews had six of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Darrin Christenberry, 513-26, 4th place; Jack Wallace II, 405-16, 7th place; Jeff Hopkins, 403-21, 8th place and Bob Eyler, 403-13 in 9th place.
