Our good friend Doug said it right when he said” for Wendell to find this buck and go after him and get his is commendable!” IMO there is no better achievement in hunting! Wendell congrats man you believed and did it!!!
To all this was all Wendell not me at all.
When we scouted this property long before any of this story i was discoureged but Wendell felt it. Once he found the buck i believed he was setting up in his bedroom and just felt he needed another plan as well so looked at areial maps and then as he said we checked out another area i thought was a travel path as evidenced by tracks everywhere. We decided to set up this 2nd area mainly for his father and others as i was not planning on hunting it much but did take 2 does from it. I felt the 2nd place was great so we set 3 spots in the area. I felt this was the spot and told Wendell not to be mad IF i kill him… Well Wendell put in the effort and got it done and its a brute. Will post more pics when i get home as im in a Stree now. The deer is approx 225lbs, 12pts and high 150s. Only thing missing is width. My Gal Friend sat in the car for hrs while we dragged it and again when we caped it… My trip was 75miles and having seen other friends mess up a deer and loose it i advised him to just wait until i got there as that should be enough time. The shot was devistating thru both shoulder areas and he did not go 50y. Oh and yes Wendell you WILL take us to dinner lol.My Buck killing skills are sick – too bad there not contagious!!! Big Bucks are easy - That's why I let them go and shoot little young ones :)
