It’ll happen next year if this guy plays his cards right and has a little luck on his side.

Man, what a 10 point. The Jordan buck is about as perfect a 10 point as you’ll find but that rack is incredible. 8D[/quote:y5kml91i]

Any fair chase, legally taken deer, is a “Trophy” in my book. Hunters must keep this respect for the sport IMO. I do not hunt to kill, I enjoy the pursuit. Taking the animal is just one reward in the journey.

Now lets get to the Booners. The Jordan Buck RULES!

Even with todays private clubs and intensive management programs the Jordan Buck status is difficult to reach unless genetic management has been involved.

This free-range monarch from the “hunt for food era”, by day and night incidentally, is incredible to me! [:supershocked] This awesome buck being taken in 1914 with a gun that probably would have a hard time outperforming my DXT is a terrific accomplishment and I hope every hunter would take the time to read and appreciate the stories of these tremendous bucks taken/found in the early 1900’s. :thumbup :thumbup

This deer will be a year older and as the guy who is after it mentioned he’s still putting on bone. Good chance this deer WILL dethrone the mighty Hanson buck, that is of course if he is killed, doesn’t damage his rack in velvet and lives to see this fall. With the amount of rain they are getting in Illinois this year, no reason to believe he won’t be just as big if not bigger this year.

That’s definitely possible, deer up there seem to do that with age. One thing that bucks got going for it though is that it hasn’t expressed even a hint of a NT point yet.

I did not vote as it is hard. Even with the well managed farms and ranches, it is hard to let a five to seven year go, as you always have the fact in the back of yor head, that he just may not make it another year.
So when one of those deer slips by un skathed, some young kid on his first hunt will most likly be the owner of a new record on hes or her first hunt :^O :^O :^O

There are plenty of genetics out there to produce the size to beat the old records. Symmetry is where the challenge lies. I think it will be awhile.
