    try heating the front of the riser. also, you need to pull staight back off the riser,otherwise it will hang upon the cutout in the riser.

    :D The heat has to be even all around the grip .but the main heat has to on the back of the grip as if you were holding it…pull from the top and work it…I have done …dozens of dozens and never had an issue …some are more stuborn than others…

    remind me was the bow new with you..meaning somebody didnt use a half gallon of expoxy before you had it?

    Neil, I think I stumbled on plan B #-o

    After letting it heat I used a glove to shield the riser from prying and used a screwdriver to slowly pry the grip off. Tore it up bad. Then broke in half :cry:

    O well its off.

    Will do! I am gonna shoot it for a while with it on before I glue it down. The adhesive was black with a tinge of yellow/green near the top :?:

    :D It should have been all black…that yellow green was most likely your issue..a adhesive that is not effected by moderate heat !

    Hope the focus works out …shoot straight :thumbup

    …and when you get to sticking the new one on, don’t use yellow or green ;)

    Sounds like whoever owned the bow changed grips on it and overdid the glue job before selling it. Mine came off real nice with a hair dryer

    Did you buy the bow new? Some people and even some dealers not thinking clear have reglued the grips with epoxy. In that case good luck. You will have to break it off. Chip it and scrape and sand the riser untill you get all the crap off so as to install one properly.{#emotions_dlg.mathews_doah}

    Here is a mathews wood grip removal 101 trick. I use a old credit card and it works perfect without damaging the wooden grip at all. It does however bend up the credit card BUT IT WORKS!  Just take card and slowly wedge it in (SIDE NOT FRONT) of riser where the grip meets while warming it from the back and mathews logo side. DONT TRY THIS till you run a hair dryer on the grip for at least 5 to 7 min or more on the whole grip.
