    I stop here and read every couple of weeks now.
    The first page does not change much in a week.
    What ever happened to this place is beyond me.
    I liked it better with the old crew that was always here

    You know a lot of those guys were kinda finished up with the forum before the changeover, but the changeover finished the rest of them off.  I hate it too.  Some of those guys still come around.

    That list is kind of a “who’s who” and a nice trip down amnesia lane…   Good times!

    I had the distinct pleasure of meeting at least seven folks on that list. Shared hunting camp with some of them. I met some of them at the Mathews Invitational in 2007. Some great people that made this forum a wonderful place.

    Having my name included on a list like that is a little out of place. Some excellent forum members listed. I pray that each of them is well and enjoying life.

    Why did it die ? Why did several others die as well that I know of? Facebook. Social Media took over in most of these forums and the main members that were active or the hosts moved all their time to maintain contact in that forum. Why do both? Most on the list weren’t here for the archery side and some weren’t shooting Mathews well before the forum made the switch.

    . I’m glad you feel the same way,i felt that a large portion of the “list” used the forum for anything but useful archery info.

    I guess I’m trying to figure out how that’s a problem. Most on that list had been here for 6+ years, and several since the very first days. They had seen virtually every topic of archery under the sun covered multiple times. Since they had such a long history together, they developed some cohesion as friends that went deeper than just shooting bows. As such, they participated largely in the ‘NON-ARCHERY’ sub forum. I assume that was the point of being classified ‘NON-ARCHERY’.

    Beyond that, the majority of those listed would still go out of their way to help others in any way that they could.

    Heck, I’ve been a part of AT for nearly 12 years now. I can’t tell you the last time I posted something in the general archery section there. My life is made up of much more than archery, and as such, it’s nice to have a place to hang out online where I know the people share my love for archery and hunting, but where we can discuss and debate other issues as well. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}

    {#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}{#emotions_dlg.mathews_applause} Amen Chris! I’ve made some great friends through this forum and that’s one of the best things about it in my book.  I may not have posted a ton in the General Archery but I did when I felt I had something to contribute to a topic.  Most of that section was on new bows which it should be and well, none of the new bows after I got my switchback XT really did anything for me and the one or two that did I just couldn’t justify the money on. As a matter of fact thatXT is still my only bow and I love to shoot it.  So for me I had no opinions on newer bows, so less time in that section. I don’t think it really matters if someone was there to contribute everyday to archery questions, the forum was more than that and that’s what I loved about it. Shouldn’t have mattered why the people were there, they were there and contributed in their own way regardless of the section it was in.

    The reason for my view is that, this being a bow manufacturer website, established for help and discussion about anything having to do with the sport and the folks participating in it, is what its purpose should be centered around. There is nothing wrong with the non archery topics, to me it’s there for people to branch off of the core topics and shed insight on personal experiences. That said, I don’t want to see it become just that, that’s not why I’m here. There are many other avenues available for that, which I choose not to partake in. I don’t want to see the forum renamed the “Mathews gossip site”.

    I wasn’t wild about the “poop” thread(s) either………..{#emotions_dlg.mathews_laughing}  {#emotions_dlg.mathews_laughing}  {#emotions_dlg.mathews_laughing}  but I wouldn’t call that “gossip”.

    You mean gossip like the thread you started on Levi switching to Elite? I guess I would count that as the quintessential definition of ‘gossip’. {#emotions_dlg.typotux}

    I also see you started threads on your new truck and Tenzing packs. I notice that neither of those pertain to archery, so I assume you thought it was okay to start those topics. Personally, I think all three threads are great, and they all contribute to the overall community. Just seems like maybe there’s a little goose/gander philosophy that would be appropriate here.

    Over the years there have been threads  having absolutely NOTHING to do with archery that have left me in tears. IMO, 9 times out of ten, THAT is the stuff that keeps people coming back. And if this site has any chance of ever getting back to a shadow of what it once was, it will be from people feeling like they are part of a community, not because they think this is the best place to get archery technical information, though the expertise we have in a few members here far surpasses what I’ve seen in most places.  {#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}

    When it comes to helpfulness, yours is one of the names at the top of list, Brian. I know you’ve helped a TON of people with photography stuff, and you’ve assisted myself and countless others in spending our money! {#emotions_dlg.mathews_laughing}

      topic on levi was factual, directly related to archery AND Mathews, tenzing backpacks are in fact a Mathews show sponsor, and packs in general are a part of everyone hunting gear. Don’t see your logic there. My truck gets me to my hunting destination. I guess maybe I’m just ONE of the guys that uses the site for archery related topics and not a daily log of the days events, not related to the sport in which I love and promote as much as I can. Sorry Chris, this is just my opinion, and yours is yours.
