    I have so much trouble with the forum now that I hardly ever stop in anymore. I hate the way its laid out also.  I have been busy this year and haven’t been on the computer near as much as I was also. Like Vince said I’m glad Mathews has this place for us to talk archery. I’ve made lots of good friends here and will stop in but I’m not here every day like I use to be!

    I really can’t sugar coat the fact the new format doesn’t hold a candle to the old but it still provides a place for everyone to get together and share stories, knowledge, and experiences. We had some longtime core members leave and it seems like the membership hasn’t quite bounced back yet.{#emotions_dlg.mathews_peace}

    I’ll be the first to agree that I like the old forum better. But I would never leave just because the newer platform isn’t as user friendly. I’m still appreciative that my favorite archery company provides this for all if us.

    Do I miss the old regime? Of course I do and would love to see them back. But it is what it is and there are still many quality people here.

    Word!

    Problem is user friendly is one of the biggest things that draws and keeps members. People don’t want to have to fumble and try and figure out how to use a website or forum, especially one that doesn’t function like any other forum out there. People will only take not being able to access a page or have issues accessing pages so long before they say I’m done. (Neil is a prime example of that) Those are huge things that will and have driven many members away.

    A forum is a HUGE advertising/sales opportunity for a company. I know many look at it as something the company is doing as a favor for us and not something they have to do, which it’s true they don’t have to provide a forum, but the bottom line is it’s a marketing tool. The more traffic they get to it the more people read all the great things about their products and that turns into new customers and more sales.  Sadly though this marketing campaign (the new forum) has been a fail in many eyes and the lack of posts and traffic definitely proves it.

    This design feels much more sterile and lacks a personal feel to it.

    Vince, I appreciate the loyalty, and I defended this new look hard for a year or better. Fact is, the forum, while hopefully a community of folks with a common goal, is a product. As a product it reflects on the company. What we’ve seen with this is that the company seems unwilling to listen and respond to the customer (i.e.- the user community), and as such it reflects on the company as a whole. At one time I considered this to be the very best community I encountered on the internet. Now I don’t even think it registers on the radar. The designers and implementers don’t need acquiescence at this point; they simply need to know that the current design leaves a lot to be desired and it has resulted in MANY people leaving the forum.

    Were this product a bow instead of forum, NO ONE would think that we need to say ‘support it no matter how crappy the shooting experience’. And while I wholeheartedly agree that we need to appreciate Mathews providing the space and experience, in all honesty, there is a ‘payment’ that we make in the sense that we see Mathews advertising every time we log in. This IS a product, and the sad reality is that the product stinks! Thus, many are no longer here. Because I also think that loyalty is an important–albeit a dying principle–I want to stick around, too, to hopefully help move things back to what they were if the management will listen.{#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}

    Amen to almost everything that’s been said….  But I think Chris has said it the best.  It really makes me sad to see this place like this.  The forum was my home for a long time.  And it’s why I’ve owned so many Mathews bows.  I used to be a Mathews fanboy and I was proud of it.  Now I’m not one anymore.  I don’t really care what they come out with this year or what new hats they make.  The forum is why I loved mathews, and with that dead, so is the love.  I’ve come to realize that Mathews doesn’t care about the bow owners, just the bow buyers.   I still stop in here, but…{#emotions_dlg.mathews_crying}

    I bought my DXT and then “discovered” the forum.  I actually first accessed the forum because I had a problem with my bow and got some great help from Vince.  I’ve had many bow/bowhunting questions answered since then from Brian (gjarcher) and others, and I still think I could get that help today when needed.  I’ve also  enjoyed the banter with a long list of folks, and yes that includes both Larrys, Fats, Chris (the salon dude), Chris “the Colts fan” and Brian who used to “walk his dog” on a bicycle.

    I guess to a certain degree the forum took on a life of its own and maybe Mathews wanted to rein it back in.  I think most of us that are still here realize that change is the only constant as they say.  Again I’ll say that I haven’t had any problems with the new forum format or functionality but I access it only from my PC (home and work).  I think the bottom line is that the old format is gone and no amount of complaining is going to change that.  So……..we move on “here” or we “move on”.  I’m here even if I don’t post or even drop in as much as I used to.  As I’ve said before, I’m just not on the computer as much as I used to be in general. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_peace}

    I miss the old forum and people too but like a few of you guys said… I’m not going anywhere because I still enjoy the purpose of the site. {#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}

    I just wish someone could call Tapatalk customer support and spend an hour fixing the settings!

    I didn’t use Tapatalk until this site got the capability and then I was all in… I use it on a few other sites but this site was the reason I bought it.

    i’ll be honest…i’m only checking back thru for the contest anymore. seems like a ghost town, just frequent the ‘local’ Missouri site if i have any questions or tech help.

    seems like the old camaraderie is a thing of the past. very strange that a change in appearance, essentially, wiped out what was a really good thing somehow.

    I have no issues with the new format on this forum. My time here had dropped way off long before the format change. The “friendly” family atmosphere had been lost for me. The camaraderie that was once here, seems to have greatly diminished. It became the same old internet, with some rude folks that loved to troll. Some of the mods here are aware of the issues I have had with those things. And, I made a decision to back away from it.

    Over the years, I was very fortunate to get to meet several members in person. I never will forget the Mathews Invitational in 2007 (I think that was the year) where I met most of the forum moderators and some members. Made many lifetime friends through Mathews including Matt and several of the folks that make Mathews what it is. Special people, that truly care about what they do and the bows that they make. And, greatest of all, they love the Lord!

    While I do peruse this forum on a weekly basis, I rarely sign in. There was a time when I would log in every day and spend way too much time here. I soaked up everything I could about archery. Now, I find myself calling some of the old guys that always have an answer.

    I miss the camaraderie.

    Blessings to each of you.

    Interesting…..I don’t know what the stats were before but only 5-10% of those who view a thread actually comment on it.  I wonder how many are not commenting out of protest or maybe it’s more difficult.  I also notice that the non-archery forum seems to have been “hit the hardest” and honestly that’s where I spend most of my time.  I like to discuss political issues, the news of the day and stir things up a bit but can’t get anyone to bite lately.  Maybe you’re as stunned as I am at what’s going on in this great country.  I mean do you realize that the federal government now controls your healthcare? {#emotions_dlg.mathews_brick_wall}

    There’s still a “heartbeat” here however faint it may be.  {#emotions_dlg.mathews_thumbs_up}

    {#emotions_dlg.sign_iagree}I was trying to highlight Dennis’s last sentence.   I couldn’t agree more with what he has said.

    I do 95% of all Internet surfing on my smartphone.  When Mathews transitioned to the new format,  I had a lot of difficulty getting on do to compatibility issues with my browser.  It was just so slow.  I did get a Samsung S4 several months ago and it is a bit easier to get on the forum, but navigating it still feels odd.  Probably the main reason I don’t check in as much was do to the inactivity of many members.  Topics would go days without much activity.   Just really slow paced for me.

    I still plan on hanging around and will try to check in more often.  There are several good folks here and many more to meet up with someday.  It has been a very busy year on the farm and also working 7 days a week in the factory.

    Take care y’all!!  See ya later!!
