On Reezen top whisker set at 2 inches and bottom at 3 inches from suppressor worked optimum..whiskers cut at 3/4 each side of knot…
Neil
Update*…for those who build your own strings or have someone build them for you…have whoever builds them add two inches to each end of serving at idler and cam…. that way whiskers tie directly onto serving not string itself.
This is proving to have many benefits ..It provides a super strong bond ..wont ever slip and eliminate’s the need for the instalatzion of the string stops…another asset is it prevents any wear on string also..not that the whiskers cause wear unless the whiskers were not tied in proper and were loose..
Downside… you loose approx 2 ft per…Still IMO the benefits outweigh this minimal speed loss..

]Neil, didn’t know if you had time to catch it or not, but I posted a question about the cat whiskers on the string suppressor string yesterday. I tied the cat whiskers in like you instructed on the string and it started jumping my top suppressor! Needless to say, I removed the cat whiskers last night and shot about 20 times and not once did the string jump the suppressor.
Can you think of any reason it would cause it? Would the length of the cat whiskers have anything to do with it? Mine were a tad bit longer that 3/4 of an inch, probably about an inch in length. I put em on to try and keep the top string suppressor from shredding. Oh well, other than that the bow is shooting great!! Thanks…shoot em straight, later…MikeNeil, didn’t know if you had time to catch it or not, but I posted a question about the cat whiskers on the string suppressor string yesterday. thats the first I have heard of that being the cause instead of preventing the jumping??Bow is in spec..? mainly Idler lean?
logically the longer the silencer the more it would eliminate the string vibration so i dont think it the length..you placed the whiskers 2 inches from top suppressor and 3″ from bottom suppressor?
Neil
Neil, yup, the bow is in spec…and is tuned, made sure of that when I took it in for the plucking noise coming from the QCC’s when I first got it. I did have the top one two inches from the suppressor, the bottom was about two inches as well. That could’a been it (not far enought up the string). Needless to say, I removed them last night and now no string jump. I’ll double check the idler lean, but it didn’t look like it was out of whack before I shot with the whiskers night before last!! I’ll probably just leave as is until I get back from my Maine bear hunt in September and put em on again just before our archery season opens here in Virginia in October. The bow is a definite tac driver, I love shooting it.
I’ll give ya a holler if they’re still outta whack when I put em back on. Thanks…shoot em straight, later…Mike

Mike…good idea…when you get them back on PM me if you have any problems..
NeilLost Arrow… Loved the post
… Now for the question reference to the Reezen.. You say on top of BOTH upper and lower silencer? Meaning if I am holding the bow in hand, the “stop” knot is directly above BOTH silencers? Just making sure cause I am gonna install these on mine and want to get it right without damaging the string ( as stated in above post ) by wearing the string. Why would you not want to put one below the lower silencer…one would think that it would slide in opposite directions…
Sorry it took so long to get to this…with the shot the force will cause the whiskers to climb up on both however if not tied on serving the top whisker can move down blocking you vision on sight pins..just a precaution..

John…same Constrictor knot used on all…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constrictor_knot

NeilNeil where is a good place where you can buy that super tack? I’ve looked all over for it and can’t find it. The regular serving thread works but I’d like something with a little more grip. -
