Which college would you attend and a short why?
No concern for money just want to see some input from you guys/gals.

These are the only choices and where she applied. We are pretty confident she will make all of them.

Thanks in advance for your replies :D

All are good schools, but she has to choose which one she likes better. I’d recommend visiting the schools before deciding.

Definitely make sure you visit the ones she is considering, also, does she have an idea of what she wants to major in? Some schools have better programs for said major than other schools might.

    I do appreciate the replies.

We visited all schools and she does have a favorite. All schools have programs that support here desired degrees. I was looking for some specific input from folks who have attended or have some good info advice of any kind.

Social Life – safety – which dorms… – cool or horrible experiences – advice or cool things to try on campus… – clubs – program – Reception of degrees in the business world…

This is more for me than for her.

Heck if you have any ideas on Scholarships please PM me. Keep in mind they have to be merit type because my EFC is more than the tuition cost so you know what that means.

    Thanks again!!!

Everything I have ever read says that Georgetown is a college/university that you can actually go to and expect to LEARN something as opposed to going to learn how to party professionally. From a strictly academic standpoint alone I chose Georgetown but like others have said, she’ll have to visit them and see which one “feels right” [=}=]

I would pick based on what she plans to major in…..most have specific specialties or programs that make them better choices for her [=}=]

I don’t really have a clue other than what I have heard from people. A neighbor of my Dad & Mom went to Medical School at Duke and loved it down there. I would say Duke and Georgetown are always well known for their top academics. Good Luck to your daughter on the college of her choice.

What degree program is she most interested in? My first response is Va Tech, but I must admit that I’m a little biased

From my experience I would go with a close one! My son drives 200 miles each way every weekend because he hates where he’s at!

I’d have to say Va Tech too out of those choices, but she shoulda applied to NC State :D Just kidding of course, but all those schools have very solid reputations, so there really isn’t a bad pick in the bunch.

    1) From a longer-term perspective, if she can get the degree he wants at any of the schools, it might be worth seeing which companies recruit candidates from which schools?

1a) In certain degree areas, names really matter. A degree from Duke typically carries more weight than another school in some fields; other schools might be the same way in other fields. Think nationally, not just regionally.

    2) I didn’t end up graduating with my original degree choice, or close to it. A larger school might have more degree choices in case she changes her mind.

Just my 2 cents’ worth, knowing now what I didn’t know back then. I got lucky.

P.S. I went to Wisconsin for undergrad and USC (Southern California) for grad school, for what it’s worth. Two big schools.

Make sure your girls carry a picture of you wherever they go. If the young men see it, they will know better than to try something stupid. :whistle :p :p
